ŠKODA Superb Wins ‘2012 Best Car’ Reader Poll

Readers elect ŠKODA Superb number one in import champions’ middle class category

ŠKODA flagship defends previous year’s title

Fabia, Roomster and Octavia also achieve podium results

Weiterstadt/Mladá Boleslav, January 26th, 2012 – No less than four ŠKODA-models made it onto the podium this year at auto motor und sport (ams), Germany’s renowned car magazine’s ‘Die Besten Autos 2012’ reader poll. The ŠKODA Superb came tops in readers’ votes. However, bestseller the ŠKODA Octavia, ŠKODA Roomster and ŠKODA Fabia each achieved second place among the imports in the compacts, vans and subcompacts categories, respectively.

At over 22 percent of votes cast, the time-honoured Czech brand’s flagship clearly made the top spot among middle-segment import cars. This vote by amsreaders has the Superb * effectively outpacing its competitors and also defending its victory from the previous year.

Three other popular ŠKODA models scored second place, contributing to the brand’s great result. Bestseller the ŠKODA Octavia * captured silver in the compacts/imports class. Kompaktklasse/Importe. In the subcompacts categors, the Fabia * also became imports vice champion. Thus, these two ŠKODA models both confirmed their rankings from last year. The ŠKODA Roomster * also scored second in 2012 in the vans/imports category, improving its previous year’s score by one notch.

“We are delighted at these awards,” said Winfried Vahland, ŠKODA CEO, about the awards ceremony in Stuttgart, Germany. “ams’ readers’ decision is a great honour for us. And it is an incentive for us to continue building on our time-honoured ŠKODA brand values in our current model offensive. Our automobiles are about clever and practical solutions with modern, environment-friendly technology at an equitable price. This will continue to be so in the future. Our plan is to win over many more people for ŠKODA in Germany from early summer of 2012 with our new Citigo subcompact. As part of our model offensive, we will be introducing a new ŠKODA model every six months on average over the coming year,” he added.

Today was the 36th time ams magazine, based in Stuttgart, handed out the coveted awards. This year, over 116,000 readers selected their favourites in the ten classes of the overall and imports ranking.
